Graphic Organisers

Graphic organisers range from diagrams to time lines to semantic maps and more. Not only can these be used to assist in comprehension during or after reading but at times can also be very helpful before reading a text, for example if you are going to read a history text having a timeline of relevant dates could assist in comprehending while you read.

Graphic organisers link in well with Schema Theory as by creating graphics students are engaging in prior knowledge and knowledge of peers to construct and fill in the blanks.
